We set off for a day out near Burnley, with Gawthorpe Hall as our main destination. To start the morning right, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the New Waggoners. After that, we made a quick detour to check out the unique and wind-powered Singing Ringing Tree—an intriguing stop that added a fun twist to the journey. With that done, we continued on to the hall, ready to soak up a bit of Lancashire history and countryside charm.

We kicked things off with a relaxing stroll through the gardens. While they may not be the largest we’ve seen, the warm sunshine made it a delightful start to the day. Plus, it just felt great to be out and about in the fresh air. After enjoying the grounds, we made our way inside for a tour of the house. Although it’s more compact than some other National Trust properties, it’s packed with character and charm. All in all, it was a fascinating visit and a wonderfully enjoyable way to spend the day.
